Merivale Medical Imaging Inc. (MMI), is a modern diagnostic imaging centre serving the greater Ottawa and Ottawa Valley areas. We offer a variety of outpatient imaging services to assist you and your doctor in making the best possible choices regarding your health. We are a well established facility that has been in existence since 1986 and are owned and operated by an experienced team of radiologists. Services offered include: Ultrasound, X-Ray, Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD), Mammography and Nuclear Medicine. Our state-of-the-art digital equipment, complimented by a staff of highly trained technologists and physicians, ensures high quality results in an environment that is both friendly and professional.

Our reputation is one built on excellence and an uncompromising commitment to providing superior service, as evidenced by the multiple accreditations we currently hold from numerous organizations. Additionally MMI, as an Independent Health Facility (IHF), regularly undergoes quality assessments and inspections which are conducted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), as mandated by the Province of Ontario’s Independent Health Facilities Act (IHFA). During our most recent CPSO inspection conducted in 2022/23, we were “commended for the high level of service” we deliver to our patients.

In addition to providing high quality services, we pride ourselves in maintaining short waiting lists and on-time appointments. We are open 6 days a week with flexible clinic hours to meet the diverse needs of our patient population. Our Qualifications
In addition to modern equipment, we have staff that is second to none. Our staff is frequently commended by patients for their ability to work well as a team and for the pride they take in the work that they do.

EQUIPMENT
Modern equipment and machinery upgraded regularly with the latest software updates. High resolution machinery that allows us to offer services that most other facilities cannot (e.g. our new Philips ultrasound machines allow us to scan vascular, echocardiography & musculoskeletal imaging of tendons, ligaments and muscles done by few other clinics).

EDUCATION
All technologists and sonographers are graduates of accredited training programs.

All sonographers are registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as well as the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP).

All x-ray and nuclear medicine technologists are members of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS).

Nuclear Medicine

Bone Scans, Myocardial Perfusion Imaging & Gastric Emptying Studies. Common nuclear medicine procedures performed at MMI include bone scans, myocardial perfusion imaging, & gastric emptying studies. The imaging is straightforward and painless and involves the patient lying on an examination table with the camera close to his or her body.

Ultrasounds

General, Vascular / ABI & Echocardiogram Ultrasounds. Merivale Medical Imaging is now accepting pediatric patients for general ultrasound procedures. These include abdominal, pelvic and small parts sonography.

Bone Mineral Density (BMD)

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry. Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing, also referred to as a DEXA (or dual energy x-ray absorptiometry), is an x-ray procedure that measures the density of your bones.

X-RAYS

MMI's X-ray imaging uses low-dose radiation to produce images of the inside of your body. It is used to diagnose fractures (breaks) of the bone, joint dislocations and abnormalities, and to assist in the detection and diagnosis of many other bone and joint diseases. X-ray imaging can also be used to check the heart, lungs and abdomen for abnormalities. Walk Ins Welcome - No Appointment Needed.

Mammography & OBSP

Helping Identify Breast Cancer in Early Stages. MMI is proud to offer DR digital mammography technology which replaces film images with digital images that are stored directly on a computer. Computer software can then be utilized to manipulate the images to aid in diagnoses.

MERIVALE CARDIOVASCULAR CONSULTANTS

Merivale Cardiovascular Consultants (MCC) is the largest outpatient cardiology group in the west end of Ottawa and Ottawa Valley. We provide patients and referring physicians with seven highly qualified Cardiologists and a cardiovascular-focus internist, as well as the support of a dedicated administrative and nursing staff and cardiovasculars technicians. Our goal is to combine timely, friendly, and expert cardiovascular disease consultation in combination with state-of-the-art cardiac testing and appropriate medical interventions. Established in 2005, MCC quickly earned a solid reputation for providing high quality cardiac care to patients in the west-central Ottawa area. Our highly trained physicians possess sub-specialty expertise, along with a wealth of knowledge and experience. MCC’s association with the largest out-patient diagnostic imaging facility in Ontario, Merivale Medical Imaging (MMI), allows us easy on-site access to advanced and timely diagnostic imaging services. Should a patient require in-hospital or out-patient services, arrangements can be made through our physician affiliation with the Ottawa Hospital, the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
